Colored Smencils

14 05 2008

Yes, I have lots of loves. Another love is Colored Smencils. I feel like a kid again when I use colored pencils and these really make me giggle. They are made from 100% recycled newspapers and come packaged in their own (recyclable) Freshness Tube. You may ask why it needs a Freshness Tube. Well, let me tell you why I love these eco art supplies… They are soaked in environmentally-friendly fragrance liquids and they smell YUMMY!

A great gift for under $10 for kids or an adult who is a kid at heart.

Cupcakes Make Me Smile

13 05 2008

Classic Nonstick Bakeware Muffin Pan with Silicone Liners
Ah, nothing like a cupcake to bring a smile to your face. I love to bake cupcakes for birthdays and recently went in search of how to “go green” when I bake and of course bake in style. This weekend I found Silicone Cupcake Liners. Now I don’t have to add more trash with paper or aluminum liners when I bake.

You can go to Calphalon® or check out Target for Kitchen Essentials® from Calphalon® Cupcake Liners 12 pk. for $9.99 for yourself… or for a gift!

To EVEN IT OUT when you bake… use silicone liners.

I heart paper!

12 05 2008

I know it is probably more environmentally conscious to send an email, write a text or call. Believe me, I probably communicate more via technology than the average American. We know from previous blogs, I am “a high tech girl on a low tech budget.”

Another one of my loves is paper. Yes, I LOVE PAPER. I love to flip through magazines. I love the feeling of a book. I love writing and receiving letters. I love maps. Recently GPS and Google Maps changed my life, so I stopped buying maps. Yeah for the environment and a woohoo for not getting lost!

I would however feel lost if I stopped writing letters. I think letter writing is a lost art and I don’t want to stop writing letters. One of my favorite stationaries is made from recycled maps. Check out Omni Resources in North Carolina for recycled map stationary. For just $4.95 you can order 25 envelopes!!!

To EVEN IT OUT when you write letters… buy recycled map stationary.

Go Green When You Clean

10 05 2008

When it comes to cleaning, I will admit that sometimes I wait for it to get really dusty. I do this so I can feel satisfaction with seeing the results.  Otherwise I used to just feel like I was just moving my hands over furniture and caking it with chemicals. I recently discovered a new way to “go green” when you clean.

I thought there’s got to be a better way to clean without chemicals. Check out what Good Housekeeping recommends. It works just as well and it smells so much better!!!

Lemons Good Housekeeping

It’s as smilple as “mix one part olive oil with one part lemon juice in a spray bottle and use in place of a conventional furniture polish.”

To EVEN IT OUT when you clean… go green and make your own cleaning polish.

BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag) with Style

9 05 2008

Some people love shoes. I love bags and stationary. Yes, I love to shop and I typically bring my own bag. I used to keep bags in the trunk of my car for shopping and I would forget them when I went into the store. My friend Susan gave me this bag as a gift and I LOVE IT!!! I keep it in my purse. The bag itself is large (20×21x4) and holds up to 22 pounds.

Cell Phone Recycling

8 05 2008

I like to think that I am a high-tech-girl on a low-tech-budget. With that being said, I like to upgrade my cell phone about once a year. I get excited when I buy a new technology!!! Clearly this isn’t the best thing for the environment.
